Baby Hats

Baby Hats

Pattern: Cotton Hats from Last Minute Knitted Gifts
Yarn: Bernat CottonTots in Sunshine and Blueberry
Needles: Denise Circulars size 8
Notes: I decided that since a little boy doesn't need a bow, I tied the i-cord in just a regular knot and the hat is cute, but not too girly

Klaralund

Klaralund

Pattern: Klaralund from Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton Collection Book 2
Yarn: Noro Silk Garden color 201
Needles: Lion Brand size 8 plastic straights
Notes: I shortened the sleeves a bit. I will probably never use Silk Garden again. I am not a fan of the knots, the fodder or the feel of it. It did soften a little when washed, but not too much.

Suss Shawl

Suss Shawl

The bamboo needles are crap. The tip of one of the needles is rough and catches on the yarn.

All the yarn was based in cotton. I think for the price of the kit (orig $69.99 down to $49.99) was a little high for all cotton yarn....

It came with about 5 different yarns. All the main stands were cotton, but they were combined with eyelash, viscose, mohair, etc. I liked that I was able to sample the other types of yarns without having to knit a whole lot in each one.

There are no finishing instructions....This thing NEEDS to be croched around the ourside. Knit entirely in Stockenette stitch, it curls....I will be adding that when I am done....

Speaking of instructions, they were VERY basic. The kit said it was an intermediate kit, but a beginner could follow the directions and be fine.

The shawl is becoming very cute, and I may use the pattern again, but I will definately use different yarn

One last thing, everyone who saw the kit in it's carry all bag thought I was carrying around a Barbie doll!!

Marilyn

Marilyn

DB Super Chunky Cashmerenio is very soft and nice, but there are TONS of knots!! For as much as this yarn cost, I should not have had to cut out about a balls worth of knots.

I need another set of Denise Needles. While I was using the 10 and 10.5 needles, I couldn't use them to start another project. Another set would fix this problem...

Yarn: Valley Yarns 2/4 Highland Tweed in Cardinal

Notes: The yarn is a little oily, and requires many washes before the strage oil smell starts to fade. It's a good price, though, so I can't complain too much!

Yarn: Cotton Fleece in Cotton Ball
Needles: Addi Turbos size 6

Cynthia (2006)

Cynthia (2006)

Pattern: Cynthia from Hot Knits
Yarn: Lion Brand CottonEase in Banana Cream
Needles: Denise Circulars size 8
Notes: While the pattern is easy to follow, the collar just doesn't cut it. So, I used an i-cord bind off after knitting a few rows on size 6 needles. This helped to bring in the neck a bit and not make it so floppy.
