Knitting Lessons

Learningtoknit My school group is great. A seriously great group of people. They are fun to joke around with and really know their stuff, so getting assignments completed it not a problem. Well, I have one more great attribute to add to their list--knitting. Before one of our meetings, I taught two of the lovely ladies in my group to knit. They learned casting on and the knit stitch. They really picked up quickly, too!!

The next lesson will be binding-off (casting-off) and the purl stitch. I can hardly wait!!

Note--I did not get the memo that it was red day!

I've said it before...

...and I will say it again--too many babies! There are too many pregnant people at work. It's like an epidemic! And everyone keeps waiting for me to announce something...Well, I have news for them--keep waiting!

In the meantime, everyone else seems to be jumping on the bandwagon! So, I must kick into full baby gift gear...

The latest installment of the baby extravaganza is one of the girls in my department. She is a crocheter, so I did not hesitate to make a blanket for her (unknown sex) baby. I knew she would appreciate whatever I made her. Yodalionblanket

The hardest part about this assignment was the coloring. Without knowing the sex of the baby, I was having some dilemmas. I did know what the room is going to be painted (jungle) so I went with that. I call this my Lion Blanket (and no, I didn't use Lion Brand Yarn).

Pattern: Majorly big swatch -- Stockinette with garter border 30" x 30"
Yarn: Jo-Ann Sensations Rainbow Classic in Neutral (doubled).
Needles: Size 15 circs
Notes: I bought way too much yarn for this blanket, but it knit up very quickly. I might just need to use the rest of the yarn for a blankey for me...

Of course Yoda had to get in on the action of the blanket. And this is how I wrapped it up all pretty-like:

Lionblanket

But wait! That's not all... With my new found stenciling talents, I made a couple onsies for the lucky little baby. In keeping with the jungle them, I made a monkey. And in keeping with the 'I don't know what the hell sex your kid is going to be' theme, I went with yellow stars. I had requests for monkey t-shirts after they were opened...

Too Much Turkey

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

So, now after Halloween and now Thanksgiving it is quite evident that Yoda likes her fowl. I think the tryptophan has gotten our little Yoda. How sweet she looks on her silk pillow (how spoiled is she?!)

Holiday Slacker

I know, I know...it's been awhile. But I have been trying to concentrate on school and work. Those are noble reasons to not post, right? I did give you cute Yoda pics, though....

So, what little knitting I have been doing is on the Central Park Hoodie. I am to the armhole decreases, and I am loving this KP Swish Superwash! It is sooo soft for a superwash and knits up great. Of course, I don't have to mention the price is right, too. Now they need to come out with some more colors... Here is an update pic of the back with some company swag that is working great for a travel knitting bag:

Here is a close-up where you can also see the beautiful stitch markers Lynette made for me:

The color is better represented in this picture. The name of the color I am using is Coast Grey...a great neutral for this type of sweater! Once school and Christmas shopping are done, I should fly on this little number and get it done....

Happy Birthday, Yoda!

Man, do I feel old! Yoda is 3 today. In dog years, she is 21! So that means my baby can crack open a cold one with her mom. I sort of remember my 21st birthday...that is not going to happen to Yoda. Maybe she'll just overindulge in treats!!
