Busy as a Bee

It's been crazy at my house...School came to a head this week--mid-terms and papers and presentations all over the place!

I took my Managerial Accounting mid-term having only studied for about 4 hours. Yes, I know. Trust me, I know. Thus, there has been little knitting of any kind!!

I have gotten quite far on the Poker Table...Ah, the Poker Table....it has only taken a year! But I think it is worth it. I pretty much only have to stain it and am done.

I have also decided that I am going to go on the MBA trip to Germany next May. We'll be staying in Munich and traveling to BMW and Siemens. How much fun is that? Anyone know any good yarn shops in Munich? Das macht viel Spass!!!

Yoda, the Alarm Clock

Yoda thanks everyone for their kind words about her Halloween costume. She really wants to assure everyone that she does like it. It only looks like she doesn't because it is so early in the morning.

So as to not have everyone going through Yoda withdrawl, here is an example of the Yoda alarm clock. Every morning she wakes Jeremy up like this.

Don't interupt her though.....

Is it a Faucet?

Lynetteyarn When I came home from work yesterday, I saw a package on my door step. I was really hoping it was a lost faucet I had ordered, but it ended up being something better--yarn! Lynette sent me some yarn as 'payment' for making her a weekender bag.

In the box:
KP Swish in Coast Grey
Socks that Rock in Carbon Dating
Sunshine Yarn in Raspberry Limeade
3 Sets of Stitch Markers made by Lynette

First of all, the Swish is incredible soft! I was surprised for superwash. We'll see how it holds up.  I am planning on doing a Central Park Hoodie with it.

The Socks that Rock colors are great--very neutral. I need to figure out a good pattern for that yarn.

The Sunshine yarn so reminds me of Spring, especially with all the gloom we have been having lately. I am thinking a picot edge trim with this yarn...

And the stitch markers? They are gorgeous! I should take a picture of each kind, but they are so pretty. I can't wait to see them hanging off of my knitting!!!Crazyyoda

And just for a little fun--Yoda!

It's a short one

Butterpecan Originally, I wanted to use the KP Mainline I purchased for some cable work. I started on what I had in my head, and it just wasn't working out. Then I took a step back and thought about how I don't really have any plain pullovers. So that's what I am doing from the top down. I am thinking I will have about half of the yarn left, and I already know what I am going to do with it. I think I will do another top down crew, but then steak it for a cardigan. It can't be that bad can it?

And just because, here is Yoda Gimmethatbone giving me the 'Give me that bone' look. It was the only way I could get her to sit still to take the picture....What a princess!

What can you get for $25?

I recently received an email at work about a new cosmetic line that is selling makeup for $1 a piece. The email said the line was affiliated with Bloomingdale's. So, I did a little research on it. I found that while the line is not affiliated with Bloomingdale's, the owner formed the Neutrogena Men's line and Hard Elf Candy. They felt that women should be able to look beautiful without breaking the bank, so the developed E.L.F. (Eyes, Lips, Face) Cosmetics. I decided to spend $25, the magic number for free shipping, and try it out. What was I going to lose? All I can normally get for $25 is a bottle of foundation.

So, I got on to the website and ordered the following items:

  • Brightening Eye Liner  Coffee
  • Brightening Eye Liner  Ash
  • Shimmering Facial Whip  Persimmon
  • Clarifying Pressed Powder  Tone 1
  • Clarifying Pressed Powder  Tone 2
  • Lip Pencil  Bark
  • Lip Pencil Natural Blush
  • Blush Coy
  • Blush Flushed
  • Lip Gloss Goddess
  • Lip Gloss Malt Shake
  • Plumping Lip Glaze Mauve Berry
  • Tone Correcting Concealer  Tone 1
  • Tone Correcting Concealer  Tone 2
  • Shielding Hydro-Tint SPF 15  Tone 1
  • Shielding Hydro-Tint SPF 15  Tone 2
  • Foundation Brush
  • Total Face Brush
  • Lip Defining Brush
  • Smudge Eye Brush
  • Eyeshadow-Hazel Palette

Since I wasn't sure what foundation, powder, or concealer color I was, I bought one of each. It was only $1. My order arrived last night and I ripped into it when I came home from class.

While some of the sizes are a little smaller than what we consider 'full size', most were full size. The brushes went well beyond my expectations. You can get a whole set with case for about $9. I bought a set from Mary Kay with less brushes for $40. I think the $9 set would be comparable.

What do I think? This morning, except for the mascara, every makeup item I put on my face was from E.L.F. I really think it looks good. So, it isn't Estee Lauder, but I paid $25 for a huge assortment of makeup - practically a whole color palette. I really like the Plumping Lip Glaze, and was a huge fan of the concealer put on with the Foundation Brush. My allergy under eye circles look much better. I would recommend trying it out.

One word of advice, I think they are being inundated with orders, so the shipping time seems to have slowed from what it normally is. Also, to get free shipping after $25, use the coupon code 'shipit'.
